Former Byrd aide Barth kicks off campaign for seat in Congress

Hoping to ride a wave of "11th-hour power,'' a longtime aide of West Virginia's senior U.S. senator held her official House of Representatives campaign kickoff Thursday at the state Capitol.
Anne Barth, who entered the race with the backing of top Democrats after the surprise decision by state Sen. John Unger to not seek the office, told supporters she was raised for public service.
"I know how to serve the people of the 2nd District because I see them and talk to them every day. I take their concerns personally because they are my concerns, too,'' she told a group of supporters that included members of the state Legislature and representatives from organized labor.
