ANNE BARTH FOR CONGRESS CAMPAIGN
TALLIES OVER $330,000 IN FIRST TWO MONTHS

- Barth Displays Strong Momentum in Race for 2nd District –

CHARLESTON, W.Va. – Anne Barth, a Democratic candidate to represent West Virginians in the 2nd Congressional District, announced today raising over $330,000 since filing her candidacy papers in late January, far out-pacing her primary opponents who entered the race weeks earlier.

“The energy and excitement around my campaign has been astonishing. As I travel the district, I continue to meet so many people who have become disillusioned by the Bush-Cheney policies that have ignored the needs of West Virginians for nearly eight years now,” Barth said.

“The desire for fiscal responsibility in Washington and the demand for a return to our own needs here at home are palpable. I am grateful for the broad support I’m getting from West Virginians, and very pleased with the early momentum they are giving my campaign,” Barth said.

Barth raised approximately $330,000 in contributions for the first quarter federal reporting period, which details her fundraising from her last-minute filing on January 26 through the end on the filing period on March 31.

“We have very high expectations for ourselves as a campaign, and we are meeting those marks,” said Ned Rose, chairman of the Anne Barth for Congress campaign. “Our fellow West Virginians are also expressing their high expectations for Anne by contributing so generously. I can assure them all one thing – nobody will out-work Anne Barth. She is a tireless campaigner and a dynamic individual.”

While the majority of contributions to Barth’s campaign have come from working West Virginians, the campaign has also received the support and endorsement of the entire Democratic Congressional Delegation – Sen. Robert C. Byrd, Sen. Jay Rockefeller, Rep. Nick Rahall and Rep. Alan Mollohan.

“Being endorsed by the Democratic delegation as someone they believe can hit the ground running in Washington and work on behalf of all West Virginians is very humbling,” Barth said.

“These are accomplished leaders who have achieved so many good things. I look forward to working with them to get results for the people of West Virginia.
